Third Party Thermostats

Clearly EVOHome thermostats are great and also as a complete heating control system, it all works very well. But has anyone managed to use a third party control system, to send temperature readings from say a Lighting Systems User Interface and also Set Point temperature requests?
Over IP or Bus network?

evohome uses a secure protocol and I think the closest anyone has come to doing this is using a HGI80 with Domoticz... Obviously Google is your friend here!
