Life after EvoHome?

Post by jjhplus9 »

I'm thinking EvoHome is end of life for me.
The number and frequency of issues is just pilling up.

So, the question is:
What are the alternatives that you are considering or have considered

You know this is an evohome forum right? ;)

I still have a prototype/test evohome system in my parents house from 2014 still operational without issues.

You'll find all heating systems have issues along the way, and if you go across to Drayton Wiser or something else, I've seen issues with these systems too.

I'm delighted that your 2014 system is still going strong.

I bought mine in December 2016 and have expanded it since - 17 rads.

but now in 2023 I am no longer willing to accept the many issues:
HR92 battery drain
HR92 failure rate (I now have quite a collection (5) on my shelf of dead HR92s)
Poor comms between nodes and the controller (frequent drops)
Un-comanded boiler firing (several times a day) - this one is such a pain and its costing me money

so - in all genuine seriousness

what are the real alternatives

It sounds like you have a few pairing issues if you are getting random boiler firing. As for failures and battery drain, have you actually contacted technical support to discuss these? Some people say the devices fail, but then have been in wet atmospheres, like bathrooms or shower rooms.

evohome is still the best system on the market for what it does. The alternatives don't quite work as efficiently as evohome can when setup correctly.
