Hi All!
I've recently moved house and removed my setup (which worked great) from a combi boiler set up and trying to install on a conventional boiler but only for CH at present! My initial install consisted of removing the old thermostat and wiring in the BDR91. All was good, everything works goes on and off with demand etc. Over the next 2 and half month I managed to burn nearly 1000 litres of oil in a house that wasn't particularly hot and a thermostat that was only set on 20-21!
At this point I figured something was wrong so investigated why there was so much demand. I found various draughts around windows and doors etc so removed Hr92 from these rooms until repaired. I think I'm now in a relatively draught free house and just using the evotouch as the only thermostat for the whole system. It's placed in the front room and the rest of the house seems stable. I've now started to notice irratic behaviour such as the br91 turning on when the room temp is 2 degrees above set point. If I cancel it it won't come back on until it should do. Reading through the forum looking for an answer I've now seem that I need to remove the motorized zone valve that controls the heating? Do I really need to do this if everything is working? Could someone explain the reason why? I'm no plumber but fairly handy but just can't get my head around this!
I guess overall I'm losing a bit of faith in a system that worked perfectly for me in a previous set up so I'm thinking I've gone wrong somewhere. If I've burnt so much oil why does my house feel chilly... Surely I should be roasting. I'm reluctant to refit the Hr92 in case it makes it worse again. I'm considering using a Dt4r instead of the evotouch to rule out issues with that.
Any helps appreciated. I don't want to give up on it because I know it's worth. My plumber doesn't like the system so isn't the greatest of help!!
Evo home set up
Re: Evo home set up
I installed an early Evohome kit on my S-plan oil boiler. The BDR91 actuated the CH zone valve and the contacts on that then called for heat. So I would say that is not your problem.Marlon80 wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 6:58 pm Reading through the forum looking for an answer I've now seem that I need to remove the motorized zone valve that controls the heating? What I have had an immense amount of trouble with is spurious activation of the BDR91. Recently I had a comms error on one zone HR80 and it turned out this failed to close or at any rate send "zone valve closed" to the controller so it continued to activate the relay. So there may be some similar effect from one of your HR92s even if they are nominally not in use, try unbinding everything you do not need.
