Hi, I have an Evohome system installed in 2011, which predates the current wi-fi controllers - it has a separate bridge box to connect to the internet. I see its firmware hasn't updated since 2014, which leads to a couple of questions:

1. Should its firmware have updated since then?
2. Is it worth getting one of the new wifi controllers, or are they essentially the same thing?
3. If I did get a new controller, would it be straightforward for me to connect to my existing system?

i am sorta in the same position. Except i have been forced to change my controller due to previous one dying.

am interested to hear if anyone has redone their home, do the TRVS( HR92) keep their name when you rebind? do the schedules stay? do you need to use a new email address for the app?

We've had a few people upgrade from evohome Gen 1 to Gen 3 over the years.

Its a bit like upgrading an old mobile phone to a new one... It will still function fine, but the new one has a lot of new features.

In the case of G1000 verses a G3000 controller there is a big jump, from a G2000 to a G3000 not so much.

Gen 3 or G3000 model has...

Wi-Fi connected (No RFG100 needed).
Firmware Updates Over the Air (G1000 and G2000 models won't ever get updated).
Weather Compensating Features (Summer Saver & Winter Boost - Requires Internet Connection)
ECO/Boost Function

Yep, clear all the old devices back to factory and bind them in!
