I can't seem to get my Evohome heating working as expected and it's starting to become a bit of an issue. I'm sure it's going to be down to something I've misconfigured. Any help much appreciated!
Initially, I had a simple setup: I replaced the house thermostat with the relay box and used the wireless controller as the temperature sensor (for the whole house). This worked fine.
Since then, I've started adding HR92 controllers to radiators in various rooms then adding them as new zones. The idea is that the original wireless controller acts as "rest of house". The problem now is, when an individual room is below the set point, the system does not trigger the (BDR91) relay to demand heat unless the original zone (i.e. "rest of house") is also below its set point.
I need the heating to come on when any room is below the set point, but I find I have to keep manually tweaking the main zone to force it to come on, maybe because that's bound to the same wireless relay as the general heat demand? I understand that this could cause the "rest of house" to end up higher than its setpoint, but I can accept that so long as the individual rooms are also reaching their required temperature.
HR92 controllers not demanding heat on their own
Re: HR92 controllers not demanding heat on their own
Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not a recognised configuration, hence its not working.

Re: HR92 controllers not demanding heat on their own
Thanks, I appreciate the reply!
Sorry could you clarify a little - does this mean that once I started adding HR92 controllers, I need to have one on every radiator in the house? (Or I need some other sort of actuator for every zone). I can't keep the original zone?
I suppose with the main unit's zone having the relay as its actuator, the HR92 can only limit their temperature and can't actually demand heat - is that correct?
Thanks

Re: HR92 controllers not demanding heat on their own
Exactly this... At the point you started adding HR92's you changed the capability of the system and gone from a single zone system to a multi zone installation.Shibby wrote:Thanks, I appreciate the reply!

Re: HR92 controllers not demanding heat on their own
OK thanks I thought that might be the case. I suppose I could use one more HR92 on the rad close to the controller and use that as its actuator.
Isn't the multi zone kit brochure a bit misleading though. Here's the quote from it:
"The evohome Radiator Multi Zone Kit provides 4 wireless radiator controller heads allowing you to create up to 5 zones – one head per zone plus the evohome controller as a temperature-sensing device in a zone. Individual radiator controllers are also available"
No mention that you would need to purchase additional hardware for that 5th zone!

Yeah thankfully not my brochure and we detail clearly what's possible here - https://theevohomeshop.co.uk/content/8- ... -do-i-needShibby wrote:OK thanks I thought that might be the case. I suppose I could use one more HR92 on the rad close to the controller and use that as its actuator.
