Primary HR92s

Post by MALCOPOPS »

Im a bit confused about how HR92s interact. I had thought all operated independently of each other so that, say, with a room with 3 HR92s each would work to the zone temperature, but operate on their own. If one end of the room was colder than the other, then that HR92 would stay on until it reached the set temperature. If I understood it correctly I think this is how you set up a zone with multiple HR92s over 2 or more rooms.
But I paid to have my HR92s pre-bound and where there are multiple HR92s in a room one has been designated as 'Primary'. Does that mean the other is 'dumb', merely operating in sync with the primary, not independently, and that its only the temperature reading at the Primary that matters ?
Ive read through the literature but cant find an explanation.

You can set in the zone configuration menu if a zone has one or multiple rooms.
If it is set to one room, then one HR92 or another sensor (if configured) will measure the room temperature, and the others are 'dumb'.
In a multi-room zone each HR92 should measure & adjust on its own.
You can change this setting at any time afaik.

Thanks for that. Its as I'd thought.
One reason for asking is that I have a quite large room with 3 rads, and one part is colder than the other. I was wondering about having the HR92s operating independently, so that the rad in the colder part would in effect stay on longer.

You can give it a try, no harm can happen. You don't have to go through the binding procedure for this afaik.
