Single Zone Thermostat and HR92

I seem to have an issue with two of my zones,

Hallway - single Rad with new Honeywell valencia manual valve and an HR92 - behind a radiator cover

Dining Room - Hallway - single Rad with new Honeywell valencia manual valve and an HR92 - behind a radiator cover

I was advised to get two Y87RF - Single Zone Thermostats to control these zones, I was hoping these would overide the HR92, essentially turning the HR92 into a 'slave' unit.

I have found it difficult to find any info on getting this to work, in the Zone configurationon the Evohome for the Hall and Dining room I have both the HR92 and the Single zone thermostat bound as the Heating Type - Radiator Valve and Temperature Sensor for the Single zone thermo respectively.

Essentially the Single Zone Thermostat does not seem to have any influence when adjusted manually by turning the dial on either bound zone.

Has anyone else overcome similar issues when using HR92's in Radiator covers?

Hi Phil,

No certainly not had any issues like this... If you pair the T87RF as the primary sensor it will certainly act as it.

Are the radiator covers metallic, i.e. going to cause RF issues with HR92's?

Thanks, no the covers are just MDF so should not influence the signal, I did notice when I rebind the sensor (reset first to unbound state) that the Evohome zone config asks me to bind Actuator(s).

What qualifies as an actuator - the TRV controller HR92 or am I confusing this with something else that does not apply to my setup

I am still tweaking the system but this particular Hall radiator is still getting too hot despite the external Single Zone Thermo showing the room temp above the set temp.

Any more light anyone can shed on this would be appreciated, I just want to understand the binding of HR92 and Single zone

The 'actuator' in the case of a radiator controlled zone is a HR92... 8-)

Thanks for clarifying, that makes sense, i read another post from a Evohome user who got the single zone working by creating a completely new zone (for me I called it Hall 2) and then rebound the HR92 (after a factory reset) and then single zone thermo, this seems to have worked, I then deleted the old 'Hall' zone, and renamed the new zone now the HR92 displays the temperature as displayed on the single zone thermo.
