Evohome & weather sensor Intergas HRE

Post by Physics »

Hi,
I am a consumer planning the specifications planning to replace my old combi with an Intergas Erp (Wilo 7.5 modulating pump) HRE 36/40 with just the Evohome wifi control, opentherm bridge, and wifi TRVs on all rads with perhaps a couple of thermostats to add more precise control in certain rooms).

Question:
If I then add the Intergas weather controller too, will it work and is there any benefit to the system?

Hi,

When you say weather controller, I assume you mean the optional 'weather sensor'?

As per the Intergas installation instructions, the weather sensor can be used with the OpenTherm connection, but does not detail how the will operate or be used by OpenTherm.

I hope that helps.

Kind regards,

Richard

Evohome will ignore the weather sensor.

At the moment you're better off using the weather sensor and a standard BDR.

Thanks Dan for the advice! 8-) Are Intergas still having issues with the OpenTherm protocols and evohome multi zoning?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I am considering an Intergas HRE SB boiler replacemen for my unvented system. I already have Evohome controlling 2 BDRs/motorised valves ( S plan). I have spoken to Intergas Support about Opentherm and all they could say was that their Platinum installers have had general training on Opentherm but, given the vast number of Opentherm devices, I would need to speak to Honeywell about any Evohome installation/compatability.

Noting your comment above, is the weather sensor/boiler combination a sensible cost-saving measure? How, for example, does it affect zone start optimisation?

I am keen to keep things simple but at the same time get the benefits of a modulating/condensing boiler.

I have an intergas rapid and the evohome system and am considering upgrading this to opentherm with the r8810. Is it as simple as wiring up the gateway and binding to the evohome system or is it more involved - e.g. Changing Boiler settings, water temperature curves etc that I have to programme?

I was at Intergas HQ training yesterday and the process is very simple.

Literally, the boiler is connected to the OpenTherm Bridge and once paired to evohome it will respond to heating demands.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Richard

HI Just wondering did you go ahead and change Intergas rapid to opentherm I have just this morning changed my intergas rapid to opentherm too early yet to see if its working well
How did yours work out if you went ahead
Thanks

The Intergas Rapid is more difficult to see the OpenTherm system working. I promise it will work, but you will need an OpenTherm monitor or the IDS Software to see what is properly going on.
