I have a new system and have had problems with both valves coming on together. My config was wrong initially but it still seems to be doing some strange things and it does seem a bit random.
I've just rebound the boiler relay and increased a room temperature up to force it on. The water came on first, followed by the boiler one almost straight after, and then the water went off after a few second. Is this normal?
I have a Y-plan system. I was expecting only one light/relay to come on at a time unless both hot water and heating required at the same time.
Relays switching together
Re: Relays switching together
It has behaved better today but the water does seem a bit random.
I've realised that I've mounted my two BDR91's next to eachother and not 30cm apart. This is what I've seen in pictures online. Could this cause the problem? Wouldn't it cause them to loose their signal and report a fault instead?

Re: Relays switching together
I'm still completely confused with the way it's working and having doubts about the savings that I was hoping for. I really don't want radiators coming on in the middle of summer It has been better recently but...
Today, I got back from work and all rooms had been at least 1 degree over their set temperature throughout the day. The hot water was cold (26C) and due to come on. When it came on, both the hot water and heating came on. After about 10 minutes I decided to switch off the hot water. As I switched off the hot water, the heating went off but the hot water stayed on for a bit.
If the devices had a poor signal then I would expect them to either not come on or log an error. I wouldn't expect the wrong things to come on. Surely the signals contain some sort of unique ID belonging to individual devices?
Any ideas? Is this likely to be caused by relays being to close together?

Re: Relays switching together
it sounds like they are double bound, I had the same problem on a S plan system, if you reset both BDR relay boxes and also the main controller, do a factory reset on the main controller and then separate the batteries so it reboots and does a hard reset.
Then go through the guided binding process again, I would also unbind all Radiator valves and set them all up again just to be sure, to reset rad valves go into bind mode, then press the button again and keep it held in for at least 15 seconds, the valve should then say unbound.
The key is resetting both BDR units and the binding information in the controller.

Re: Relays switching together
I've unbound both relays but don't really want to do a full reset. The main heating seems to work fine and the hot water appears to work as intended, but it seems like it's configured wrong.
When the hot water comes on it switches both relays (rads and hot water). When it's up to temperature it switches off the rads and leaves the hot water running for the overrun amount of time. What I really need is only the hot water relay to come on, it doesn't need the other relay to fire up the boiler/pump etc.
Any ideas how to get this behaviour? I didn't choose the 2 S-plan/y-plan valves, I chose the other option.

Hi Peter,
If you have Y Plan with HR92's, you need to bind it like this - https://theevohomeshop.co.uk/forum/view ... ?f=12&t=29
Make sure in the INSTALLATION MENU under SYSTEM DEVICES that BOILER CONTROL states NONE before copying what is done in my video.
I hope that helps.
Thanks,
Richard

Fixed now and working as expected
