Help with choosing equipment

Post by ozz »

Hi all,

Im almost ready to setup my house with Evohome heating controllers, I just want to check I have chosen the right equipment.

Currently I have an oil fired boiler and downstairs heated by UFH and radiators upstairs. There are 2 old Danfoss programmable controllers connected to the boiler, 1 for the UFH (split into 6 zones, controlled by thermostats in each room) and 1 for the upstairs radiators (1 zone) and hot water.

I want to have full control of the temperature in each room, program times for each room, increase/decrease temp as desired etc. So my plan is to keep 6 zones downstairs and create 4 upstairs zones.

Below the equipment I have selected:
1- Honeywell evohome Connected Thermostat Pack ATP921R3100 (WiFi connected controller and Relay)
2- Honeywell evohome Radiator Multi Zone Kit HR924UK (for the 4 upstairs rooms).
3- 4 x Honeywell EVA1 Danfoss Thermostatic Radiator Valve Adaptor for Honeywell HR92 Radiator Controller. I checked and these are required for my radiators
4- Honeywell Underfloor Heating Controller (HCC80R)
5- Honeywell evohome Hot Water Kit ATF500DHW
6- 6 x room thermostats

For the room thermostats I am not sure what to go for. I would like to use 6 x "Honeywell T87RF2033 Single Zone Thermostat Only" but I read these cannot be used with oil heating and Im not sure if these would work for multiple zones. Another option is "Honeywell DTS92E1020 Wireless Digital Room Thermostat (DTS92)" but I prefer the look of the T87RF2033. Also, in order to control the DTS92E1020 from phone/tablet do I also need the wireless relay box?

Appreciate if anyone can give advice if I have selected all I need and some advice on the thermostats.

Thanks

Hi Ozz,

The T87RF2033 can't be used on their own with oil, but they can be used with evohome and oil. You do need to ensure that the oil boiler is solely controlled by a BDR91, so depending on your system you may need to add another BDR91 to your shopping list!

If you want to call me, I can discuss your requirements properly - 07538 923936 (ask for Richard).

Kind regards,

Richard

Hi Richard. Thanks for the reply, I am offshore so not had any chance to call.

How can I tell if I need a second BDR91? Would this be if the 2 current controllers are wired separately?

Do I still need the wireless relay box for this or will the room thermostats allow me to connect through my WIFI?

Thanks for the help and I should be able to call to clarify everything once Im back onshore.
