TRV Compatibility

Hi guys, I have tried to install my kit tonight. The majority of my existing TRV's are the old Honeywell type. The HR92's slot on nicely and I can manually wind the black wheel down all the way without issue. The body then fits on top and works.

The issue I have is with some other TRV's that are fitted. They all seem the same but some have got Salus and some have got Lifestyle written on the top. When I fit the thread on and try to screw the wheel it wont move very far. The reason for this is that the pin inside the TRV body is 3mm higher than the Honeywell TRV's. So, they wont work. If I wind the thread back a bit to try and compensate, the thread is so loose the HR92 falls off. So, this 3mm makes all the difference it seems.

Is there an adaptor or something for this? The thread is the correct thread, all the adaptors that come in the kit will not help this scenario.

I have now watched Richard's "TRV compatibility video".

He states that the distance from the top of the thread to the pin must be no more than 14mm. The TRV's with the issues I have are 16.5mm. I guess thats the issue.

Can somebody confirm that there are no fixes for this apart from a new set of TRV bodies?

If so, which are best bodies to get which work and fit perfectly with the HR92? Thanks guys. Dave

Take the pins out the valve base plates, take then to a machine shop and get them to surface grind 3 mm off them? Only suggestion I have!

I have just found out that three of my valves are lifestyle and i have the same problem.15.5 mm to top of pin.Have you found a suitable TRV that is no more than 13mm.
