Unidentified zones apeared on app & web - SOLVED

Post by Raymondinio »

Hello all
I've been using evohome for maybe 5 years years with zero issues .

Yesterday I installed a new one using my exsiting opentherm relay ( 2 years old ) I'll call this set up Home.
I factory reset everything & its working but I have an unidentified zone ??? it came up showing 62 degrees !
its not showing on the controller but it does show on the app & web browser.

Today I took my old system to my mums as shes not good with anything technical even a touchscreen with the idea I can help keep
her feeling comfortable & warm from my house .
paired everything at my house using my old BDR91 ,wasnt connected to a boiler just mains powered for re-pairing no issues everything spot on .
Installed it & now I have another unidentified zone in her installation !
Both Unidentified zones I cant delete or have not found a way yet .

The only common factor is each evo home controller at each property is in the same room as the radiator with no TRV. I wanted to use the controllers internal temperature sensor for that zone, so maybe its a setting somewhere ?

What I cant understand is its been working fine for years in the same configuration with no unidentified zones ???

Any Ideas what schoolboy error I've committed here ?

Both boilers area combi's & approx 2 years old btw.

Thanks for reading.

After trying every setting possible without success I tried deleting & unpairing everything & every zone 1at a time untill I was left with the controller.
The unidentified zone was still there but I cant delete the last zone ,so I created a zone with HR92 as the actuator then
deleted the controller zone ,unidentified zone STILL there !

As I was stumped I logged on to the Honeywell Total connect webpage went into locations & removed the comfort system altogether !
Went back into Locations and added a new location with exactly the same details .

VOILA unidentified zone GONE !!!!!

Unfortunately had to rebind everything set up schedules etc

BUT when redoing it for my mums all I did was
1 Noted the Mac & Crc numbers
2 Remove the comfort system from the web page
3 Add a new location with the same details
4 BONUS All zones ,bindings & schedules retained AND unidentified zone GONE !!! and done remotely without visiting the property ! :D

I hope this helps someone if they come across the same situation !

Thanks for the update.

The way to handle this is to contact Resideo on 0300 130 1299 and they can just reset the account which removes the ghost zone. You don't have to do anything with the evohome controller as the issue is the Resideo/TCC server.

Note that when an account is 'reset' (whether by Resideo support or by deleting/re-adding the location), your systemId and zoneIds for the TCC API will change. This means that any authorised 3rd party applications (like e.g. EvoControl) will need to be re-authorised as the oauth permissions stay linked to the old IDs.

Only relevant if you are using any 3rd party apps or services with Evohome.
