Hi all,
I am currently running Evohome with an R8810 Opentherm bridge and a selection of HR92s. I have an unused Y87RF2024, which I purchased a few years ago when using a BDR91 but then decided to go the Opentherm route, so it has just sat in the cupboard.
Would it be possible to use the Y87RF2024 as a simple remote sensor for one of the HR92s, which itself is poorly located? If not, which model would I need to purchase?
Cheers
Will a Y87RF2024 work as HR92 sensor, Evohome & Opentherm??

It should be possible but id check first,I have a Hr92 on a plinth heater and the round Honeywell stat in my kitchen sensing the temperature, the Hr92 just opens and closes when there’s a heat demand,my system is running opentherm, might be worth speaking to Richard, the owner of the Evohome shop to confirm.Edit, just checked on the shop and it will work,it is listed as such,Hope this helps. https://thesmartthermostatshop.co.uk/pr ... y87rf2024/

Gary,
Thank you very much for your reply and for confirming what I was hoping, which is great news.

How are you finding your plinth heater as it's something I will be adding to the CH system in a long galley kitchen when I refurb the kitchen next year?

Hi Archie, glad I could be of some help,I have a Smiths SS7 plinth heater which fits under a 600mm kitchen cabinet,I find it works very well, used a Honeywell Valencia straight valve with the Hr92 and the round stat, only downside is that you have to remove the plinth and grill and slide the heater out enough every year or so to change the batteries but it’s only a few minutes job,so no problem.Depending on what size cabinet the plinth heater is going under you can go bigger if you want.Love the Honeywell Evohome, allows zoning of every room and works perfectly.

Gary,
That's just what I wanted to hear as one end of the kitchen gets very cold, so a plinth heater running off the CH and with Evohome zoning seems like the solution. I will purchase another Y87 (can't remember the model number when it's minus the BDR91) and use that as the remote temperature sensor for the kitchen.
Thanks again for your feedback.
