HRA80 External Antenna Shortage/Help!

Post by ash_davies95 »

Hi,

I've recently renovated and moved into a property. With underfloor heating controllers being in short supply I ordered one from Germany, of which I was unaware came without an antenna. I'm now stuck with the UFH controller and no antenna to get my heating up and running. I've ordered from a few stores that state they have stock then tell that they dont have stock and are unsure when they will. When emailing resideo/honeywell I've been told there's a chip shortage for the HRA80 and they dont know when they'll have stock. (Estimates being late Jan)

A long shot here but does anyone have a spare antenna or UFH controller with an internal antenna I can buy so I can have some heating through the winter?
Been an absolute nightmare trying to track something down, any help would be amazing.

Thanks

Hi I find myself in the same situation as Ash having purchased a HRE80 with no external antenna, is there any other way of controlling this temporarily ?

Unfortunately not. It needs a HRA80 as it is a wireless UFH controller.

If you need to get them going urgently or with certainty by a particular date then this may help: https://ensupport.getconnected.honeywel ... uage=en_US

I'm not familiar at all with the UFH controller, but if it is effectively a multi-zone actuator then judicious use of one or more BDR91s (depending on current draw of each UFH zone actuator) possibly with temporary use of multi-room zoning might allow you to get a sub-optimal system working.

The HCC80R UFH controller is capable of operating thermal actuators and the UFH pump using separated switch lives and also has a certain amount of control logic the BDR91's don't have, so I wouldn't do this as a longer term solution in a multi zone application. A single zone of UFH can be controlled with a BDR91 and DTS92E/T87RF no problem.

We do have some HCC80R's back in stock, so maybe send the HCE80R's back and buy these - https://thesmartthermostatshop.co.uk/pr ... er-hcc80r/

How are people buying the HCE80R? Stick to buying the HCC80R as this is the UK specific model with the aerial.

They are available to buy in Europe and the shortage in the UK has lead people to buy the wrong model on Amazon, etc without realising they do not come complete with an aerial.

When HCC80R's are available (we currently have 3 in stock), we will be first to have any UK stock so worth keeping an eye here - https://thesmartthermostatshop.co.uk/pr ... er-hcc80r/
