I've recently had an evohome system installed onto my existing S-plan stored hot water system. The hot water works fine, but the heating is not working even after three visits by my installer. He's due back next week, but after a lot of reading on this forum and elsewhere I've come to the conclusion that it's configured incorrectly. There's a heating and separate hot water valve in the cupboard with the cylinder and he's wired the two BDR91s into them and there are HR92s on every radiator. From my reading, I think one BDR91 should have been directly wired into the boiler and the heating valve wired open, but this is not what's been done. Further reading suggests that this configuration, whilst not optimal, can be made to work and that's what I'd like to do. (I'll worry about getting an optimal install later).
The BDR91s and hot water sensor have all been placed a decent distant apart and away from the tank and pipes and I'm not getting any comms errors and the Rf tests all pass with excellent. But, when I set the rads up to a high temperature the controller and valves show the high set temperature but in the system summary the valves show 0% demand and the BDR91 green light stays off. In the guided configuration the hot water was done first as per the manual and then the heating bdr91 was bound. The system devices shows APPLIA?NCE CONTROL - NONE and STORED HOT WATER - ENABLED. HDR92's were added to zones as HEATING TYPE - RADIATOR VALVE. TEMPERATURE SENSOR - REMOTE SENSOR.
Any thoughts on where to go next?
Thank you
S-Plan with HR92's
Re: S-Plan with HR92's
Best route on something like this is just to contact the Resideo Technical Support line on 0300 130 1299 Option 3 and they would help you with your configuration.
But in a nut shell (as per page 46 of the latest evohome installation guide), your existing S Plan system needed to be modified so the evohome system can run exactly as it was designed to... HR91/HR92's on all radiators, Heating Motorised Zone Valve electrically disconnected and manually left open (or completely removed), Orange & Grey wires removed from the Hot Water Motorised Zone Valve, BDR91 setup as a 'Wireless Relay Box' under 'Appliance Relay' & 'Hot Water Valve Only' setup via Hot Water Guided Configuration.
All very simple when you do the evohome training available and read the manual. Just a shame literally every installer who fits the evohome system for the first time, thinks they know how to do it without even touching the manual.
