Currently have the hot water probe just sitting in the hot water tank insertion well, however I'd like to secure it a bit better.
The installation manual references "thermal conductive compound", which appears to be completely unheard of by any of the local plumbing suppliers.
While I've seen mention of thermal paste before, which I've used for CPU coolers, I can't see how this would keep it secure should one of our cats grab the wire when exploring the hot water cupboard (yes they have pulled it out before).
Is there something else available that would be a bit closer to putty without being epoxy? As I'm sure it might be a good idea to still be able to remove it.
Securing hot water probe
Re: Securing hot water probe
Just cut some pipe insulation and insert it into the hole to fill the gap. You can buy stick on backplates which you can then use a zip tie to keep the probe in place.

Re: Securing hot water probe
Thanks, so I guess no need for thermal compound (paste) at all then, or is that still recommended as well? Just don't worry about it holding the probe in place.
Looking at picking up something like https://www.screwfix.ie/p/cable-tie-bas ... pack/38890, hadn't considered them as a way to secure the cable, thanks.
