Intermittent calling for heat

Hi all

I have had my Evohome system installed for a number of years now. It has all worked perfectly, save for a few issues that have been resolved through this forum (thanks).

I am now having a slightly odd issue. Most of the time, the system still works absolutely fine; however, this morning, there was no heat. As per my schedule, the radiators in the bedroom(s), living room etc, were calling for heat from around 6.30am (room temp 16 - calling to 20). However, the boiler did not receive the signal and did not fire up. I turned the boiler up manually, but that only lasted until it warmed up and no heat went to the radiators.

I then took the ATF800 off the charge stand and as the battery is completely shot, it immediately turned off. I then put it back on the charge stand and when it woke up, the boiler kicked into action - this could be coincidence as we are talking a matter of seconds, which seems a little quick to me.

The hot water has never failed to call properly.

It is a difficult one to diagnose (for me!) as it is intermittent - any thoughts as a first step? Perhaps factory reset the heating BDR91 and re-bind? I was reading the FAQs on the website and came across the fact that the DBR91s should not be next to each other - my installer has put them an inch or two apart, which could explain something. Although it is odd that everything has been working fine until now. Is there a recommended minimum distance between the BDR1s?

BDR91's installed too close to each other will fail over time... I am not 100% sure of the reason behind this, but it was suggested that they have to transmit more often than they are designed for (because of them screening each other) and hence they finally fail. This has certainly been my experience of BDR91's that have been fitted too close to each other on an evohome system. Honeywell recommend 300mm MINIMUM separation, but I wrote this a while ago and its words are still valid today - https://theevohomeshop.co.uk/content/11-evo-help
