Will I need separate thermostat or will HR92 suffice?

Hi

I'm looking to purchase EvoHome but I have a query about temperature sensing. My understanding is that the HR92 valve acts as a temperature sensor for a zone and so no separate sensor would be required (e.g. Y87). However, I'm sure I've read somewhere (and I'm blowed if I can find where!) that if the radiators are "covered" then this would mean a separate sensor would be required. What I'm not sure about is what "covered" means in this context? Does it mean the entire radiator and TRV are housed in some kind of enclosure (i.e. boxed in)? Or is it referring to something else?

Sorry if that's a bit of a dumb question but I want to make sure I'm getting all the correct/necessary parts.

I have a similar question. I believe that the HR92 will need a separate thermostat located just outside the radiator cover. An “extension” to the HR92. It’s possible that I read this about a different manufacturer so it might not be correct.

I’m planning an Evohome setup and as far as I can tell if I am putting HR92 on every radiator there is no point in having a room thermostat.

The HR92's are the temperature sensors but may not work effectively if they don't have free air around them, maybe in a radiator cover or behind a sofa etc. In this case you may want a separate stat which you bind to the HR92

'Covered' would imply the HR92 cannot sense the free air around it... So if you had a radiator cover, a bed pushed up against it or a sofa pushed against it you would need a separate sensor in the room to ensure accurate air temp control.
