design advice

Post by dst »

Hi,

I am currently renovating a house and would like advice on the EvoHome components required. The primary heat source for the house is a Heat Store which is heated via solar thermal/back boiler and a gas boiler. This is in the process of being installed now but CH/DHW side of the plumbing will be installed by a local plumber. I would appreciate advice on the components required to control the following:

1 WET UFH zone
11 Radiators/Zones

If evohome HR92s TRV are used on the rads is it possible to 'pair' a TRV with a remote (wired or wireless thermostat) if I decide I want a thermostat for a zone to be in a different location to the TRV itself?

The Honeywell configuration tool does not offer thermal store as an option for the heat source so is of limited use. I am unsure what components are required to control the UFH zone and how that affects the selection of the UFH itself - manifold/themostat etc. I have been look at Wundafloor but this is not decided yet...

Any help appreciated. Many Thanks.

As the heat store is going to be a similar configuration to a 'boiler' as far as equipment spec goes, the evohome configuration tool will give you the equipment you need for this.

A T87RF or DTS92E can be used as a primary sensor in a HR92 controlled zone.

UFH can be done without the UFH manufacturers controls, the only thing required from the UFH manufacturer is the Thermal Actuators (230v), manifold, pump/blending set & pipe. Here are all the UFH components for evohome - https://theevohomeshop.co.uk/22-underfl ... g-controls

If it is just a single UFH zone, then this is possible with a Y87RF2024 bound through evohome operating a single UFH blending/pump set.

I hope that helps?

Hi,

Thanks for this info I am finally getting round to ordering this now...

We have modified our layout a bit and I wondered if there are any options to support more than 12 zones?

Many Thanks.

More than one evohome Controller is the only way to support more than 12 heating zones...

I am finally ready to set this up :-)

To use the Y87RF2024 to control single UFH zone how should it be bound to the controller? If it is bound as UFH does this also result in a call for heating?

I have read a few comments such as "Set them up as electric zones" and the one below. But no details on how to do this?

"The BD91 can be added as a few types of zone (note you'll need a separate thermostat to get the zone temp):
- Electrical underfloor - it just switches electrically
- Zone valve - it switches electrically (to operate the valve) AND requests heat from the boiler "

Thanks

Some progress setting this up today. No problems binding the controller with the BDR91 that calls for CH pump on thermal store to fire.

Managed to pair the Y87RF directly to a second BDR91 that calls for UFH manifold pump. So I think that will work all be it without the ability to manage the UFH zone via controller or app.

Still at a loss as to how to bind the UFH relay in a way that doesn't call for heat from the CH pump...

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I would suggest contacting Honeywell Consumer Support on 0300 130 1299 to get the up-to-date firmware pushed to your evohome Controller... 8-)
