faulty HR92's
faulty HR92's
We had the Evohome fitted last week and fairly early on after fitting, I suspected one of the HR92's was not functioning properly. Would always have the radiator too hot and would lose RF. Another seemed to be working fine but would drop the RF. Swapped them into other locations and the two behaved in the same way. I can only assume I have two faulty HR92's. Is this a common fault or am I unlucky. Or is there another reason why they act like they do? All other valves working fine - living room has two rads and is keeping temperature better since making the evohome the sensor for the living room.
Re: faulty HR92's
No, certainly not normal behaviour but loads of variables to consider...
Were the devices bound correctly? Are the radiator TRV's valve bodies existing and stuck? Are there any adaptors and are they fitted correctly? Where is the location of the evohome Controller? Are the HR92's location affecting their performance? Were the HR92 valve base plates fitted and calibrated correctly?
Have you tried deleting the affected zones and repairing them?

Re: faulty HR92's
The instructions we received with the valves was basic in the extreme - 7 steps with one line instructions in 7 languages and a diagram for each step. Yes we followed these but you now say were the adaptors fitted correctly - we followed the instructions, what more should we be aware of. The existing valves are danfoss and were only fitted four years ago and the pins are free to move. The controller is in the living room and all units were bound correctly and signal strength is 5 on all. Last night the living room was set for 19 and the actual temperature was 23.5 and the radiators were hot. The 'faulty' HR92 was still in position, showing off but that radiator was still hot. Had to rebind that one yesterday too.
Re: faulty HR92's
HR92's fitted to Danfoss TRV's that then won't shut off normally means the adaptor isn't fitted correctly... This may help - https://youtu.be/t31VI8X5yq0

Re: faulty HR92's
Job sorted - it gave me great pleasure to show the installer how the Danfoss adapters should be fitted. Some were not fully down (most of these worked with the valve on full stroke). Brings to mind again that I would like the Haynes manual for Evohome - all the information about every aspect all in one place. How about a section on this website (moderated to avoid discussion) which just contains the technical information and fitting instructions, links to videos etc. This would then be the online Haynes manual.

I am glad things are resolved and the only faulty thing was the installer...sharpedge wrote:Job sorted - it gave me great pleasure to show the installer how the Danfoss adapters should be fitted. I will certainly consider doing a 'Haynes Manual' on our forum! What do you think access to this would be worth for people who have not bought from us? Maybe £40 (less than an hour of most evohome competent installers time)?
