evo home set up

Post by russ12345 »

I have a intergas system boiler 40 sb
S plan system as per page 42 evohome installation guide
2 x bdr91 controlling hot water and heating valves
1 x R8810 wired to boiler open therm
1 x cs92 cylinder stat
18 x hr92 divided over 12 zones
Boiler control set on evohome controler to open therm bridge
stored hot water enabled
hot water sensor bound
hot water valve bound
heating valve bound
Controller not used as room stat

bdr91s cs92 Rr8810 all installed correctly 400mm apart no metal or copper 400mm
Had a few issues after 12 months bdr91heating not recieving signal, turn mains off and on then would work ok for 3 days sometimes more.
Had many converstions with Honeywell, support has improved lately.
Changed bdr91 on heating side and factory reset re bound as above

In the Honeywell installation Guide Page 43 Fig 4 they only use 1 bdr91 to control a single valve,Honeywell support did recomend on one occasion to set up my system as page 43 Fig 4
and to leave the heating valve open and not use the second bdr91
I have not done this yet hence the post
Hope the above makes sence
Any answers kindly received
Many Thanks Russ

Did you try to run the Advanced RF communication check between the BDR91 and the evohome controller?

I would convert to an evohome hot water priority system and in my experience the further the RF devices are away from each other the better! Honeywell state minimum of 300mm separation but in reality get them as far away from each other as possible... ;)

Hi Thanks for the reply
changed the bdr91 on the heating side and factory reset the controller the system is working great now.
I have don a signal test and the strenghth is good my only concern is when i do the test on the heating side bdr91 the signal flashed on both bdr91s
My main question really was do i need 2 bdr91s as i have the hr82s on all rads.
One other point is that i notice on evohome web site you supply a honeywell controller specific for open therm my controller is the 3000 model does this also operate open therm?
Many thanks

Both BDR91 will flash on an RF test and no you don't need both BDR91's but need to convert the system correctly. As I advised previously hot water priority is a must with OpenTherm and stored hot water... Y Plan & S Plan are not optimal for your setup.

You are right that we now do a modulation pack, but this is exactly the same as the connected thermostat pack but instead of a BDR91 relay in the box you have the OpenTherm Bridge.
